Accredited Assessment Appraiser of Saskatchewan membership entitles a person to the following privileges:

a) to supervise and/or practice residential, commercial and industrial mass assessment appraisals in an assessment jurisdiction;

b) to vote and hold office in the Association;

c) to have voice and vote at the annual and special meetings of the Association;

d) to be appointed to committees of the Association;

e) to receive a copy of Association documents designed for distribution to members;

f)  to receive the newsletter of the Association; and

g) to use the title of Accredited Assessment Appraiser of Saskatchewan (A.A.A.S.) as set out in The Assessment Appraisers Act.

 

 

To become registered, a person must:

(a) hold a MAAS designation;

Note: The new educational curriculum was approved on October 19, 2007 and is effective January 15, 2008.  Any new members or candidates whose six-year cycle has expired will be required to meet the new criteria.  Existing designated members will not be required to have to meet these updated qualifications.

 

¨      UBC - Certificate in Real Property Assessment or equivalent plus completion of the extended case study and attainment of at least a 70% grade in the case study

¨      LG 15 - Local Government Legislation & Statute Law from University of Regina

¨      RPA 10 - Real Property Assessment in Saskatchewan from University of Regina

¨      Micro Economics - UBC - BUSI 100 - Micro Foundations of Real Estate Economics or equivalent

¨      Income Valuation Course

¨         IAAO Course 102 and IAAO Course 112: Income Approach to Valuation I and II; or

¨         UBC - BUSI 331 - Real Estate Investment Analysis and Advanced Income Appraisal or equivalent

¨      Seminar in Appraisal or Assessment Ethics

¨      Defence of Value Seminar

 

Elective - Any one of the following four classes:

¨      UBC - BUSI 112 - Canadian Real Property Law or equivalent

¨      UBC - BUSI 300 - Urban and Real Estate Economics or equivalent

¨      UBC - BUSI 400 - Residential Property Analysis or equivalent

¨      UBC - BUSI 401 - Commercial Property Analysis or equivalent

 

Experience:

¨      four years of mass appraisal experience in Saskatchewan.

(b) hold a recognized mass appraisal designation that enables the person to appraise all types of property, other than agricultural land, and have at least four years of experience in mass appraisal;

(c) hold a recognized fee appraisal designation that enables the person to appraise all types of property, other than agricultural land, and have at least four years of experience in mass appraisal;

(d) be designated in a jurisdiction outside Saskatchewan as qualified to appraise all types of property, other than agricultural land, and have at least four years of experience in mass appraisal;

(e) have at least 10 years of experience in mass appraisal and, as at January 1, 2003, have been employed or engaged in conducting assessment valuations in Saskatchewan; or  Clause does not apply on or after January 1, 2008.

(f) as at January 1, 2003, have held an Accredited Municipal Assessor of Saskatchewan (AMAS) designation in accordance with the bylaws of the Saskatchewan Assessors’ Association.

 

Accredited Assessment Appraiser of Saskatchewan (Rural) membership entitles a person to the following privileges:

a) to supervise and/or practice residential, commercial and industrial mass assessment appraisals in an assessment jurisdiction;

b) to supervise and/or practice agricultural land mass assessment appraisal subject to the requirements of the Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists

c) to vote and hold office in the Association;

d) to have voice and vote at the annual and special meetings of the Association;

e) to be appointed to committees of the Association;

f) to receive a copy of association documents designed for distribution to members; and

g) to receive the newsletter of the Association;

h) to use the designation of Accredited Assessment Appraiser of Saskatchewan (A.A.A.S.) as set out in The Assessment Appraisers Act.  

To become registered, a person must:

(a) hold a MRAAS designation and be a practising member pursuant to The Agrologists Act, 1994;

¨      membership in the Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists.

(b) be designated in a jurisdiction outside Saskatchewan as qualified to appraise agricultural land, have at least four years of experience in mass appraisal and be a practising member pursuant to The Agrologists Act, 1994;

(c) have at least 10 years of experience in mass appraisal and, as at January 1, 2003, have been employed or engaged in conducting assessment valuations in Saskatchewan; or Clause does not apply on or after January 1, 2008.

(d) as at January 1, 2003, have held an Accredited Municipal Rural Assessor of Saskatchewan (AMRAS) designation in accordance with the bylaws of the Saskatchewan Assessors’ Association.

 

Junior membership entitles a person to the following privileges:

a) to practice residential, commercial and industrial mass assessment appraisals under the supervision of an Accredited Assessment Appraiser of Saskatchewan;

b) to practice agricultural land mass assessment appraisal subject to the requirements of the Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists, but under the supervision of an Accredited Assessment Appraiser of Saskatchewan (Rural) who also meets the eligibility requirements of the Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists;

c) to vote and hold office in the Association;

d) to have voice and vote at the annual and special meetings of the Association;

e) to be appointed to committees of the Association;

f) to receive a copy of Association documents designed for distribution to members; and

g) to receive the newsletter of the Association.

 

Candidate membership entitles a person to the following privileges:

a) to practice mass assessment appraisal under the supervision of an Accredited Assessment Appraiser of Saskatchewan;

b) to vote and hold office in the Association providing the candidate member has:

           (a) Two (2) years experience approved by the Registrar; and

           (b) Completion of:

                         (i) UBC Certificate Program in Real Property Assessment; or

(ii) Equivalent courses to (i) in the UBC Diploma Program in Urban Land Economics (DULE) – Assessment Specialization;

c) to have voice and vote at the annual meeting and special meetings of the Association;

d) to receive a copy of Association documents designed for distribution to members; and

e) to receive the newsletter of the Association.

 

Non-practicing membership entitles a person to the following privileges:

a) to have voice, but no vote, at the annual and special meetings of the Association; and

b) to receive the newsletter of the Association.

 

 

Honourary membership entitles a person to the following privileges:

a) to receive the newsletter of the Association; and

b) to attend the annual meeting of the Association.

 

 

Life membership entitles a person to the following privileges without payment of fee:

a) to have voice, but no vote, at the annual meeting and special meetings of the Association; and

b) to receive the newsletter of the Association.

 

 

Subscribing membership entitles a firm, corporation or organization to the following privileges:

a) to receive the newsletter of the Association; and

b) to attend the annual meeting of the Association.
