Our Members The following is a list of the members for 2007 and 2008. If there are any errors, please contact the SAAA.
About Us We are an association that focuses on our members who have an interest in property assessment valuation. A significant number of our members are practicing assessment appraisers who contribute their expertise in the valuation of property for taxation purposes in Saskatchewan. The Association also provides related products and services to our members, the public and Saskatchewan municipalities. The Saskatchewan Assessment Appraisers' Association (SAAA) was registered under The Assessment Appraisers Act in 2002. The AAA is an affiliate member of the International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO) and maintains strong relationships with assessment associations across Canada and the United States:
This web site provides information for all visitors, but provides a large amount of information for the exclusive use of our members. In the public domain, you can find information about the Association and how to join, our leadership, volunteers and staff, our upcoming education sessions and our annual workshop. In the "Members Only" section, authorized users will find a full listing of our members and their contact information along with proprietary information about property assessment publications and position documents. These publications and documents are provided to our members on a complimentary basis and may be available to the public for a fee. We provide links to other web sites that are of interest and value to our members, that include links to some property assessment associations across Canada and the United States.
Our Structure The Association is a not for profit organization, run by its member volunteers. There are several committees that comprise the Association's structure:
The terms of each volunteer position are one or two years:
Our History The Saskatchewan Assessment Appraisers' Association (Nov. 1, 2002 to current) The Saskatchewan Assessors' Association (1939 - 2002) The Municipal Assessment Officers' Association (Nov. 29, 1960 - 1970) The Saskatchewan Property Valuators' Association (Nov. 23, 1950 - Nov. 29, 1960)
Our Past Presidents
Between
1960 and 1969 there were two separate associations, provincial
agricultural valuers known at that time as the "Municipal Assessment
Officer's Association" and the newly organized SAA, which comprised all
member of the MAOA and other urban assessment personnel from the Cities
and other organizations. For 10 years
there were two associations and both held meetings together starting in
1961, with the MAOA at the beginning of the week and the SAA at the end
of the week. The Saskatchewan Assessors' Association was formed in
1960-61. The membership of this broader association was comprised of
all MAOA staff, most of the City Assessors and/or City Clerks, some Town
Assessors, representatives of assessment branches from the neighboring
provinces and the Canadian and Western Tax Representatives of companies
such as Trans-Canada Pipelines, CPR, CNR and major oil companies.
By 1970, only the SAA remained.
